EHMS will be hosting a 2-day messer seminar, taught by Oskar ter Mors (HVN, Virtual Fechtschule), on the 14th and 15th of October, between 10:00 and 19:00. The cost is 80 euros for non-EHMS members and 65 euros for members. You can register via MyClub, the link is at the bottom of the page.

Learning the Art of the Knife
“From the knife, the sword was made and invented”. Just one of the many quotes that tell us how important fencing masters thought the Langes Messer was for building a strong foundation of fencing skills. In this seminar, we’ll be diving into this amazing weapon, discovering how it is both similar to longsword in some regards, and different in other ways. With a mix of solid basics, spectacular tricks and consolidating skills through free play exercises, you’ll discover what makes learning to fence with the Messer both instructive as well as really fun!

Day one:

10:30: Zufechten; shaping the fight
12:30: Krieg; Threat and leverage
14:00: Break
15:30: guided sparring and free sparring

Day two:
10:00: Messer nemen; ending the fight
11:30: When winding gets weird.
13:00: Break
14:00 Sparring until we can spar no more
